Charles S. Strickler, Jr. 87

Charles S. Strickler, Jr., 87, passed away peacefully, after a short illness, in Staten Island University Hospital North, October 5, 2020. Born in Weehawken, to the late Charles S. and Louis Strickler, he was raised in Teaneck, New Jersey.

He graduated Teaneck High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania and went on graduate from NYU with a MBA.

Charles served his country in the Air Force. He was assigned to the 607th AC&W Squadron which was a part of the 502nd Tactical Group stationed in South Korea.

He lived most of his life in New Jersey before moving to West Palm Beach. Three years ago, he reluctantly moved to Staten Island to be closer to family and took up residence in the Brielle at Seaview.

In 1968 he married the love of his life Joan Engel and was gifted with an instant family. As a married couple they enjoyed travels with family and friends. Joan predeceased Charles in October of 2013.

He worked for the Federal Reserve Bank as a Bank Examinator for many years

Charles “Chuck” A. Strickler age 90 of Fort Myers, Florida formerly of Brashear, Missouri died October 6, 2011 in Fort Myers, Florida.


Born in 1921 on the family farm in northern Missouri he was a son of Clyde and Minnie Murray Strickler.


In 1944 he was united in marriage to Margaret Fay Gerhold and she preceded him in death on May 13, 2010.


He will be missed greatly by his step-son, Larry Ledford and wife, Connie of Brashear, Missouri; two granddaughters, Tammy and Dana, three great-grandchildren and his brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Clara Strickler also of Brashear, Missouri.


Charles, or Chuck, as he was called served his country during World War II. Chuck started off in Quincy, Illinois, driving a city bus and working at Coca-Cola for about a year. He then went to Rockford, Illinois and worked for the U.S. Tobacco Company. After moving back to Kirksville, Missouri he became head of the men’s clothing department at Montgomery Ward. He was then engaged in farming for three years, after which he operated the Chicken Inn from 1950 to 1957.

On Wednesday, January 15, 2020, Charles Kenneth “K” Strickler loving husband and father of two, passed away at the age of 75 at his residence in Moorefield. “K” was born on August 26, 1944 in Petersburg, WV, a son of the late Frank William Strickler and Frances Louella McRobie Strickler. He was also preceded in death by his twin brother Frankie Ray Strickler, a sister Charlotte Peck, and a brother Johnny Harness.

“K” started working at an early age in the construction field alongside his father and later retired as an operator with 50 years in the Local #132, Operating Engineers Union.  He married Carolyn Louise Bean Strickler, a farmer’s daughter, on August 23, 1967.  He helped out on the family farm and eventually taking over its operation.  He spent the last 20 years expanding the cattle herd with registered Angus cattle.  “K” loved horses; he rode; competed and trained for many years.
