Interview: FROM AMERICARUSO. THE LOST CONCERT the film directed by Walter Veltroni
80 years after the birth of Lucio Dalla, “DALLAMERICARUSO” arrives at the cinema on 20-21-22 November. THE LOST CONCERTO”, the new event film directed by WALTER VELTRONI.
From November 20th in digital format and from December 1st in physical format, the concert will be available for the first time in an album, “DALLAMERICARUSO – LIVE AT VILLAGE GATE, NEW YORK 03/23/1986” (published and distributed by Sony Music) .
The 4K docu-film brings to the big screen the complete footage of Dalla’s 1986 concert at the Village Gate in New York, edited by Ambrogio Lo Giudice, Pressing Line tour producer, which was almost entirely lost, now found, restored and remastered in Dolby Atmos. In addition to reviving the music of that night in New York, it recounts the birth of “CARUSO”, a song composed in Sorrento and published 37 years ago, on 10 October 1986, among the best known and loved not only of Dalla’s career, but of the entire history of Italian music.

"Lucio Dalla brings to popular music--almost in the same way The Three Tenors did, operatic works that shine as brightly as any contemporary music. The first song, "Caruso", written for the late Italian Tenor of renown, has been sung in concert by "Sting", Pavarotti,& Andrea Boccheli--the blind tenor who MEMORIZES all his works. I am ready to kill for a translation of the words Dalla is singing as, even without knowing the words, I am transported into a bliss that is only matched by listening to Eric Clapton (OK, I have eclectic musical tastes!)"

A deep lover of the sea, in his long career the Bolognese singer-songwriter has been the owner of several boats, peculiar as he is, with curious names, but above all authentic and capable of inspiring some of his most beautiful songs.
As a great lover of life and curious about the world, Lucio Dalla was also a deep lover of the sea. For the brilliant and eclectic Bolognese singer-songwriter, the vast blue expanse was not only a favorite refuge from touring, concerts, and record company commitments. But above all, a unique and rich source of inspiration. It is no coincidence that Dalla dedicated some of his musical masterpieces precisely to the sea: from the splendid “Caruso” to “Controvento,” via “Stella di mare” and “Come fanno i marinai.”
