Born in Jamaica in 1972 to Ronnie and Erica Myers, I was the third of four sons. In 1977 we immigrated to New York. At ages 5 and 4, my younger brother Sean and I were introduced to the Hip Hop culture. Break-dancing, rap music, and the style of dress fascinated us and we quickly adapted to this young but rapidly growing cultural phenomena.
Having very few religious experiences in my childhood, my first took place on Halloween night, 1985. Sean and I were preparing for the routine Halloween festivities, when out of the blue, our father told us that Halloween was the devil’s holiday and he was going to be dropping us off at church. We had never heard our father mention the devil before and we hardly ever went to church! Dumbfounded, we complied. That night the church showed a movie called The Cross and the Switchblade, which impacted me. I thought, “I wouldn’t mind getting to know this Jesus person.” The conviction however, was short lived.

To my dear Brother Ivor Myers and those who share your theological and intellectual persuasion, please hear this humble exhortation from a fellow Black sister who loves the Lord Jesus Christ and His last-day remnant church.
Years ago, I was involved in a street evangelism ministry in Venice Beach, California. Among the crowds of almost naked drug addicts, homelessness, and debauchery I literally stumbled upon what I feared most. There was a public stand guarded by three Black men who called themselves Black Israelites.

I had never heard of this group before, so I stood to listen and study their materials on the concrete sidewalk. To paraphrase what I saw and heard: the real Jesus of Nazareth was a Blackman, the devil is White, and his associates are White people; and only Black people go to heaven because only Black people comprise the 12 tribes of Israel in reference to the 144,000. Ivor Myers once belonged to an aspiring hip hop group named The Boogiemonsters. Appearing on programs such as Soul Train and BET and featured in magazines like Vibe and Rolling Stone, they were headed for stardom. However, while recording their first album of their eight album contract with EMI Records, Ivor was introduced to the gospel of Jesus Christ. After his eye-opening revelation, he left the industry. Together, Ivor and his wife, Antonte, host 3ABN's "Battle of Faith" television program and are founders of "Power of the Lamb Ministries." Ivor also is the president and founder of ARME Bible Camp, a ministry dedicated in equipping God's people in Bible study and prayer. He is an ordained minister that currently pastors at the Campbell SDA Church in Campbell, CA.
