Dean-Charles Chapman

Dean-Charles Chapman is a British film, stage and television actor best known for his roles in Billy Elliot; appearing in both the original London performance, and later taking over the lead role in the 2009 revival.

He was cast for the third season of Game of Thrones in the role of Martyn Lannister. Chapman has returned for Season 4, playing the role of Tommen Baratheon.

In an interview with the Game of Owns podcast two weeks after "Oathkeeper" aired, writer Bryan Cogman stated that Tommen was recast in Season 4 because be becomes the new king, which meant a lot more heavy acting rested on the character, so they wanted a more experienced actor. He also confirmed that they did not cast Dean-Charles Chapman as Tommen's first cousin Martyn Lannister in Season 3 to somehow set him up as the new, older Tommen (Martyn and Tommen are related, so logically, an older Tommen might resemble his older cousin). Actor, singer and dancer, Dean-Charles Chapman was born in Essex in 1997. Crowned with success thanks to his role as protagonist in Billy Elliot the Musical (Chapman is the second long-lasting character in the cast for his performance as Billy Elliot), he got international fame thanks to his role as Tommen Baratheon in the successful series Games of Thrones. The British actor, who appeared in the TV cult series in the fourth season and was confirmed for the fifth, became a stable character from the sixth onwards.

Biography

Dean-Charles Chapman made his stage debut in 2005 in the London production of "Billy Elliot: The Musical." He started in the role of "Small Boy," and later went on to play the role of Michael, Billy's best friend. His performance was impressive, and in 2009, Champman moved on to play the musical's titular role. As of 2011, Chapman was the second longest running performer in the show, and the production's longest serving "Billy." In 2007, while still playing minor roles in the musical, Chapman made his television debut in an episode of the British medical drama series "Casualty" (BBC 1986- ). Chapman returned to the small screen again after leaving "Billy Elliot: The Musical" when he starred as Stanley Brown in the series "The Revolting World of Stanley Brown" (CBBC 2012).
