Astha Raut (Nepali: आस्था राउत) is a singer from Nepal.[1][2][3] Her first hit song was a remix song Saal Ko Paata Tapari (सालकाे पात टपरी) from a collection album Addiction 2. She received the Hits FM Music Best Female Pop Vocal Award in 2014. Her second song Maya Yo Maya (माया याे माया) was from the movie Maya's Bar. Two of her songs Chaubandi Ma Patuki and Jhumke Bulaki from her album Aadhar released on 17 Asad 2070 (B.S.) became superhits. She has also sung many playback songs in Nepali films. Astha Raut is one of the coaches in The Voice of Nepal Season 2(2019) & her second album (Aadhar 2) was launched on 28 November 2019.[4]

In the early 90s a huge wave of westernization engulfed urban India with the introduction of MTV and other American and European television programming. With the western ideas that cable television brought into the daily uptake of youngsters, tradition was shoved into the back of the closet for not being “cool” enough for urbane India . Festivals lost their inherent relevance and were looked forward to more because they were a day off from school or work. Astha reflects on her own childhood: being brought up in a large joint family she never paid any serious attention to the rituals and customs but just followed them out of respect for her elders. She remembers rushing out of a puja and rubbing off the tilak once she was out of sight.

In recent accomplishments, Astha’s 2018 Nepali single Chodera Najau, charted #1 on Hits FM 91.2 and was nominated for 5 awards at the 2076 Hits FM 91.2 Music Awards which included Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Arrangement, and Best Pop/Rock composition, while taking home the “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance Award”.
Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, the title track from her new album, exclusively premiered on July 27, 2019 and secured the win for “Best Pop Singer (Female) Award” at Radio Kantipur’s National Music Awards 2078. Aesthetically and sonically, Astha has been writing with an authentic songwriting style that takes her back full circle to her acoustic roots. Working closely with production geniuses Niraj Tamang, Kobid Bazra, Ashesh Rai and audio maestro Binaya Man Amatya at Project Studio, the singer-songwriter released her full-length Nepali album, Sa Re Ga Ma Paduring a private album launch in Kathmandu on August 31, 2024.
